The IRC office in Miami is helping the community since the 1960s. Over the decades, IRC in Miami has supplied critical support to refugees, asylees, survivors of human trafficking, immigrant youth, unaccompanied minors, and their families.
Scope OF IMMIGRANT YOUTH CASEWORK INTERN WORK: The Immigrant Youth English Cafe Intern will help support our Miami-Dade-based Immigrant Youth staff members in delivering essential services to immigrant kids and their families. Key responsibilities consist of facilitating and also leading the online English Cafe initiative, intended for youth and adults to perform their English skills. Please note that every one internship roles are unpaid, and we’re now considering applicants in South Florida just.
Studying OBJECTIVES:
· The intern is going to learn the right way to design and deliver project based social services.
· The intern is going to develop leadership abilities.
· The intern is going to develop capabilities in customer empowerment and advocacy.
· The intern is going to learn cultural sensitivity.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Lead conversational English skills for youth and adults.
· Be punctual having a high sense of duty.
· Prepare the subject, supplies and talking points for every session.
· Program and schedule the English Cafe.
· Lead a number of weekly English Cafe sessions.
· Help with setting up a promotional campaign to engage clients in the English Cafe.
· Help with outreach to local area businesses to help you build partnerships within the neighborhood.
· Assist with data collection and monitoring associated with the English Cafe attendance.
Minimum Qualifications:
· Passionate about language education
· Great communication and writing skills
· Organized with attention to detail
· Ready to work independently and also under pressure
· An interest in international issues
· Strong drive to assist people and enthusiasm for working in a multicultural setting
· Computer literacy – preferably with Pc systems
· Access to internet
REQUIREMENTS:
· Should pass a background check
· Must be no less than eighteen years old
· Minimum commitment of fifteen hours per week for no less than three consecutive months.
· Submit intern hours on volunteer dashboard
· Bilingual in English/Spanish
· This can be a hybrid role.
· This place is going to report to the Immigrant Youth Program Coordinator as well as Immigrant Youth Caseworker.
